"Abba refused to eat for days unless his father inquired after her. Finally my grandfather relented, and their marriage was arranged."
Chapter 7, page 57, Ask Me No Questions by Marina Budhos
A lot of segments about Muslim(?)/Nadira's culture have been about men being of a higher level than women, so the reason I chose this quote is because it is the first one about marriage.
As I read this I wondered if Abba still believes arranged marriages are okay even though he lives in the U.S.A. now. He did let Aisha drive, so that shows that he is less traditional than Uncle.
